Teacher Training
Teacher Training is available for those seeking an in-depth exploration of movement fundamentals through the study of the Contemporary Pilates Method.
This comprehensive course is structured into four modules, each requiring a three-month commitment for thorough study. Our studio serves as a hands-on laboratory, fostering practical knowledge and skill development.
The goal of Teacher Training is to cultivate professional expertise through personal discovery and understanding of movement. Participants will receive personalized mentorship, encouraging them to explore their own bodies using the Pilates Method as a foundation. Over time, the acquired knowledge will seamlessly translate into specific professional skills, including effective cueing, subjective and objective analysis through observation and feedback, precise timing, organization of equipment and exercises, modifications, understanding of learning outcomes, and development of a teaching philosophy.
To assess the integration of skills, both written and practical examinations will be conducted throughout each module. The Teacher Training program culminates in a Comprehensive Pilates Certification, grounded in a deep understanding of physicality and the internal and external systems that support it. Theoretical examination will be completed by the National Pilates Certification Program NPCP, practical examinations will be held at Progressive Pilates North Shore throughout the training.
Module Summary:
Modules 1 & 2: Study of Pilates Fundamentals 1-6, Equipment and Repertoire knowledge.
Module 3: Practicalities between beginners’ vs intermediate work, exercise delivery, teaching formulas and working philosophy.
Module 4: Case studies and development of skill diversity, frameworks for safety, and business practicality.
Modules 1 & 2:
The first two modules focus on mastering Pilates equipment, Pilates Repertoire, and Pilates Fundamentals 1-6 through studio learning. Focus is placed on movement understanding and anatomy integration using online resources like the Anatomy Zone and Kenhub.
Tactile and visual cueing techniques are introduced, and subjective skills are honed through Body Mapping. Objective skills for repertoire learning come from Balanced Body, Stott and Peak Performance Manuals, providing a comparative study of stylization choices.

Module 3:
The third module concentrates on refining practical skills for exercise delivery, fostering a problem-solving mindset. It emphasizes developing Pilates Fundamentals for instruction through formula building, exercise philosophy, and skills such as modifications, leverage points, language proficiency, and efficient class tempo. Learners also explore creating classes that optimize time and equipment use, with a focus on themes-based learning for well-rounded physical outcomes and creative programming.
Module 4:
The fourth module delves into case studies and instructional scenarios, exploring the business side of Pilates. It covers intake processes, professional boundaries, and work expectations. The focus is on creating frameworks for safety, exercise accessibility, and diverse program development. Learners develop skills in class delivery, observation, and feedback loops. The module addresses different session approaches (class, semi-private, private) and emphasizes diverse skill development for sound judgment. Practical resources for insurance, employment, and contract negotiation across business platforms are provided.

The teacher training modules from Progressive Pilates will be included, but other study guides will not.
