Sobia Nusrat

When Sobia was introduced to Pilates, she knew this would be her go to method for moving her body. Sobia loves the logical and progressive approach of the Pilates Method and its emphasis on the mind-body connection. It is the mind-body connection that Sobia emphasizes in her classes leading people to discover the fundamental knowledge inherent in the Pilates Method.

As a movement enthusiast one of her instructors noticed her love and passion for movement and encouraged her to train to become an instructor. Following through on this advice Sobia trained in both Yoga and the Pilates Method from 2017 - 2024. She is a certified Yoga Vinyasa instructor and holds Comprehensive Certification in the Contemporary Pilates Method. Her certifications include specialization in pre/post-natal work and populations with cognitive challenges.

As a Pilates instructor one of her goals is to lead people to create wholesome connection and integration of the Pilates Method. One of her philosophies is to work from a somatic approach into more complex layers of movement, a philosophy that informs her own movement practice in continuous rewarding development. This kind of personal and professional development she enthusiastically shares in all her classes.

Sobia lives in Burnaby with her husband and loves reading and hiking the local trails when she’s not teaching.
